HRV and furnace relationship
A heat-recovery ventilator exchanges air through its own filters, core and drains while interacting with heating distribution in some houses.
What to observe
Identify the HRV model and whether it is ducted independently or tied to the furnace return.
A field example
An HRV filter may be tucked away in a separate box even when its ducts meet the furnace return. Give both model numbers to avoid a quote that cleans one cabinet while missing the other unit's scheduled service.

Service its filters and core by the maker's procedure and check that ventilation controls still operate.
